Photo Contest Rules

Photographs of scotland

The Rules are as follows:


  1. •Entry in the competition is free.

  2. •Photos must have been taken in Scotland or depict Scottish culture.

  3. •Pictures may have been taken at any date.

  4. •Winning pictures from past Spokane Highland Games Photo Contest may not be entered.

  5. •Photos may be entered into one of the following four categories:

  6. a.Landscape (includes cityscapes, seascapes)

  7. b.Events and happenings

  8. c.People and other animals

  9. d.Other

  10. •Photos should be in print format, any size up to 11” x 14”.

  11. •Photos may be either color or black and white.

  12. •The format of framing—or not—is up to the entrant.

  13. •Each entrant can submit a maximum of five photos.

  14. •Entries need to be submitted either:

  15. e.By mail, to Spokane Highland Games, Photo Contest, PO Box 4012, Spokane, WA 99220, to arrive in time for the Games; or

  16. f.By delivery on the day of the Spokane Highland Games to the St. Andrew’s Society tent (just inside the entry gate) by 11:00 AM

  17. •Judging will take place in the photo tent at 3:30 PM.

  18. •Ribbons for first, second, and third places in each category will be awarded. In addition, there will be prizes for the best three pictures regardless of category:  $50 for first place, $30 for second place, and $20 for third place.

  19. •Photos may be collected after 4:00 PM on the day of the Games. Otherwise, entrants may request the return of pictures, if the entry is accompanied by a suitably stamped and addressed shipping container.

  20. •The Spokane Highland Games Association (SHGA) reserves the right to refuse to display any photograph, for any reason.

  21. •By entering the competition, entrants give permission to SHGA to use any of the photographs submitted for its own publicity purposes, with credit being given to the photographer.


Spokane Highland Games Association is not responsible for lost or stolen photographs.
