Athletic Rules
1.The athletic competition will run under the rules of the North American Scottish Games Athletics (NASGA).
2.Amateur A, B, and Masters competitors must wear kilt and long hose while competing to be eligible for Training Scholarships (Awards).
3.The Amateur A is one who, in the past two (2) years, has personal records exceeding four (4) or more of the following marks:
a.Caber-turned 100 lb. x 17 ft.
b.17 lb. stone throw - 40 ft.
c.28 lb. weight for distance - 50 ft.
d.56 lb. weight for distance - 25 ft.
e.16 lb. Scottish hammer - 90 ft.
f.22 lb. Scottish hammer - 75 ft.
g.56 lb. weight for height - 12 ft.
4.An Amateur B is one who, in the past two (2) years, has personal records exceeding four (4) or more of the following marks:
a.Caber-turned 80 lb. x 16 ft.
b.17 lb. stone throw - 30 ft.
c.28 lb. weight for distance - 40 ft.
d.56 lb. weight for distance - 18 ft. (42 lb. for masters and novice)
e.16 lb. Scottish hammer - 75 ft.
f.22 lb. Scottish hammer - 60 ft.
g.56 lb. weight for height - 11 ft. (42 lb. for masters and novice)
5.A Master competitor is an amateur who is over forty-years old by the date of the Spokane Highland Games.
6.A Novice competitor is an amateur whose personal records do not exceed at least four (4) of the above marks.
7.The organizers and judges reserve the right to disqualify any entrant if it is felt that harm may come to the entrant, but are not liable for doing so.
8.Judges’ decisions are final.
9.Competition will begin at 9:00 AM Competitors must be on hand when called, or forfeit their entry. It is the responsibility of the competitor to stay aware of the progress of the events.
10.In the event of a tie in overall points, the class champion will be determined by the number of events won. Ties not broken by this method will be resolved using the results of the Caber Toss.
11.It is the responsibility of the competitor to pick up all awards at the Highland Games, or request them in writing by Sunday, September 30, 2012 following the date of competition. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of awards.

Challenge Caber: The Amateur A Caber Toss Champion will get the opportunity of three attempts to turn the Challenge Caber and collect the bounty of no less than $100. (Bounty grows progressively until turned.)
Awards
Medals will be awarded to the top three (3) competitors in each class (A, B, Masters, Novice, and Women); a minimum of four (4) competitors per class is required for all awards to be given.
Entry Fee: Amateur A, B, Masters, Novice, and Women - all seven (7) events $27.50 (USD).
Entry Rules
Entries are valid upon receipt of the entry fee, and a signed and dated waiver.
Closing date for entries is Sunday, July 15, 2012. Entries received after that date, including field entries, will be accepted only on a space available basis at the sole discretion of the organizers.
Competitors whose entries are received by Sunday, July 1, 2012, qualify for a Spokane Highland Games T-shirt upon arrival to the Highland Games.
All entries received by Monday, July 16, 2012, will be provided with a gate pass. Entries received after that date will have to purchase an admission ticket. Everyone must have a gate pass, or admission ticket or stamp to get on the field.
The organizers reserve the right to cancel any class that has fewer than three (3) competitors registered.
Unclaimed T-shirts will NOT be mailed.
